An inquiry on the site management as key factor for the production in the construction industry has just started.

The site management has crucial influence on the technical and economic success of the production in the construction industry and thus on competitiveness of the enterprises and on the safety of the jobs. And it is shaping the form of the demand of the performance and thus the working conditions on site.

But what is happening inside the side management ?

• How site managers and foremen are mastering the challenges of the increased competition?

• Which are new forms of labour, of division of labour and of cooperation?

• Which are skills and competences need in site management, to meet the needs of their function inside the enterprises?

• Which are the consequences of the skills shortage on finding personnel for the site management?

• How will the site management will work in the future?

This questions will be investigated by BAQ Forschungsinstitut in a new project. Further questions are the chances of female civil engineers in the site management and the application of engineers with a Bachelor degree in the enterprises in the construction sector.

The BAQ Forschungsinstitut on this study is co-operating with the Federations of the construction industry Niedersachsen-Bremen und Hessen-Thüringen as well as with the trade union Industriegewerkschaft Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt.

The project will be running until January 2014.
